Job Description:
The Borehole Production Engineer will play a vital role in processing, analyzing, and interpreting cased hole and production logging data to support well integrity assessments, production optimization, and advanced completion designs. This position bridges data acquisition and production engineering by ensuring high-quality data delivery, insightful interpretation, and actionable recommendations for subsurface production analysis. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cased hole logging tools, production engineering, and data analysis, along with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and client consultation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and integrate cased hole log data, including production logging (PLT), well integrity logs, cement evaluation, and corrosion evaluation.
- Perform rigorous quality control of raw and processed data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Validate tool configurations and align data sets for consistency across multiple acquisition techniques.
- Analyze production logging data to evaluate multiphase flow profiles, zonal contributions, and well performance.
- Conduct well integrity evaluations using cased hole data such as cement bond logs, corrosion logs, and imaging logs.
- Support smart completion design and post-production analysis for optimized well performance.
- Collaborate with subsurface teams, including reservoir engineers and production technologists, to integrate logging results into broader field development strategies.
- Work closely with field logging teams to ensure data quality during acquisition.
- Provide real-time or post-acquisition feedback to improve operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot acquisition or processing challenges and recommend workflow improvements.
- Deliver comprehensive reports detailing processed data, interpretations, and recommendations.
- Present findings in internal reviews and client meetings, providing actionable insights for production and operational improvements.
- Stay updated on advancements in cased hole logging tools, data processing methodologies, and production engineering practices.
- Contribute to workflow optimization, including the use of automation, AI, and machine learning techniques in log data analysis.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
Experience:
- Experienced candidates: 3-5 years of experience in cased hole log processing, production logging, or production engineering analysis, preferably in oilfield services or related industries.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in cased hole log processing and interpretation software, such as Techlog, Emeruade, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of production logging tools, well integrity analysis, cement and corrosion evaluation, and smart completion designs.
- Ability to interpret multiphase flow data and provide recommendations for production optimization.
- Familiarity with various cased hole logging tools (e.g., PLT, CBL, USIT, CCL).
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills for technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic project environments.
Additional Advantageous Skills:
- Knowledge of scripting or programming languages, such as Python, for data automation.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications for production engineering analysis.
