An ambitious and innovative team of 60 talented philanthropy professionals, our focus is the £400m ‘More Research, Less Cancer’ (MRLC) campaign which has four key priorities: the Francis Crick Institute, Cancer Grand Challenges, Translation & Innovation, and our Future Leaders’ programme. We’ve recently reached the milestone of £200m. As a Senior Donor Relations Manager, you will lead the development of a sector leading stewardship programme and oversee the delivery of broader donor relations activity including, gift acceptance and management, acknowledgment, donor recognition and reporting to help increase supporter loyalty in the UK and internationally. You will lead a team of 8 (consisting of managers, specialists and executives) ensuring donors receive high-quality interactions at every touch point to help foster long-term engagement and deliver income growth.This is a great opportunity for an experienced Donor Relations professional to utilise their skills and experience within the UKs largest charity, stewarding some of our biggest donors and supporting us in bringing about a future where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.What will I be doing?Develop and maintain a long-term strategy to maximise 1-1 relationships with philanthropic prospects and donors, drawing on donor and data led insights. Develop and refine cultivation and stewardship frameworks for Campaign gift opportunities which provide effective journeys that maximise donor loyalty and engagement all major donors including individuals, grant-making trusts and foundations. Lead on the delivery of the operational plan to ensure activity is delivered on time and is of a high quality. Develop and implement a comprehensive recognition programme for all major donors including individuals, grant-making trusts and foundations.Manage, coach, motivate, set objectives and evaluate the performance of the team, including line management of eight staff and coaching more senior staff to matrix manage junior team members.. Responsible for donor relations spend and specific projects and supporting broader budgeting, tracking and reviewing processes, seeking opportunities to drive efficiency and greater value. What are you looking for?Significant experience of donor relations or stewardship in a non-profit, academic or arts-based organisation (i.e charities, universities or museums with donor relations programmes)Extensive experience of and proven ability to create, execute and oversee a comprehensive donor acknowledgement and recognition plan.Significant experience of leading an operational team and driving high performance, with excellent team building, influencing, motivating and delegating skills. Experience of written and oral communication skills that are effective with a diverse range of audiencesExperience of working in partnership with income generating teams focussed on ambitious targets. Experience of using strong analytical skills to identify and prioritise the activities which will have the most impact in driving income.Experience of strategic thinking and long-term planning with an ability to execute and contribute to the development of the department and directorate strategy. Proven ability to influence, persuade and negotiate with people across teams and levels as well as the ability to explain difficult issues and works to build consensus and positive solution.
