This role will commence on 22nd April 2025, following the Easter break, and offers flexible part-time working options. About the School:This Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school provides specialist education for students aged 11 to 19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism, and associated visual and complex needs. The school is committed to fostering independence and personal development, ensuring that all students receive tailored support to meet their individual needs.The school offers specialist facilities, including a sensory room, soft-play area, and therapy spaces, enabling targeted interventions. There is a strong focus on developing personal independence, with staff working closely with parents and carers to set meaningful goals that help students thrive both now and in adulthood. Regular workshops are held to support parents and carers in this journey.Students are encouraged to transition from co-regulation to self-regulation, equipping them with the strategies needed to become more independent. Your Role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide personalised support tailored to each student's learning style and needs.Promote emotional and social well-being, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment.Assist teachers in creating inclusive learning experiences, tracking progress, and building students' confidence.Develop engaging learning strategies under the guidance of the teacher.Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns.Collaborate with specialists, such as speech and language therapists, to support student development. What We’re Looking For: Experience supporting children or adults with special educational needs.While not essential, a willingness to assist with personal care when required would be beneficial.A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent)..Adaptability and a willingness to support varied learning styles.A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.Strong communication and listening skills.The ability to remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel supported.
