DescriptionWe are seeking ten Student Educational Development Associates, two from each Faculty, to work with the Educational Development team on a range of projects related to teaching, learning and curriculum design at the University of Nottingham. We are eager to involve students in the evaluation, development and dissemination of various initiatives at the University including, for instance, how our curricula might develop in the future; how we use AI in learning, teaching and assessment; and the ways we involve students in our decision-making about learning and teaching. This is an exciting opportunity to take part in debate and discussion about future developments and, in doing so, have a hand in shaping future practices at the University of Nottingham.
The overall purpose of the role is to contribute to the work of the Educational Development team by taking part in cross-university and team discussions, supporting administrative processes related to those discussions, and undertaking specific tasks within your Faculty such as fact-finding and engaging fellow students.
Start Date: 22nd April 2025End Date: 31st July 2025Working Hours: 5 hours maximum per weekPay Rate: £12.50 per hour plus holiday payLocation: Mix of in person, on campus/some online work by agreement
Within this role you will have the opportunity to:
Collaborate with staff and students to inform, support and evaluate learning, teaching, assessment and curriculum design practices at the University of Nottingham
Attend cross-University team meetings and participate in discussion(s) by sharing your ideas and perspective
With appropriate support, create minutes and other kinds of record of those cross-University discussion(s)
Review data, project reports and other outputs created by Educational Development project groups
Act as a fact-finder within your Faculty by systematically gathering data, feedback and opinions from students and report key findings to the wider Educational Development team
With appropriate support, co-facilitate student focus groups and consultations
Support the creation and subsequent dissemination of key findings to help promote practice-sharing across the University
Reflect on the discussion and debate that you have participated in and consider its implications for you and your work in this role
Develop skills and knowledge related to teamwork, communication, co-creation, knowledge exchange and pedagogic design practices
Skills and experience required for the role:
Essential:
Current Faculty of Engineering UG or PGT student at the University of Nottingham
Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively in a team with staff and students
Ability to analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
Self-motivated and organised in a way that enables you to work to deadlines
An interest in student learning and curriculum design within and beyond your academic subject
Willing to take responsibility for completing agreed work, keeping in contact with team, and reporting on progress
Good communication skills (oral and written)
Willing to participate in group discussions and share ideas
Commitment to the University values of inclusivity, ambition, openness, fairness and respect, including an understanding of the need to ensure representation of all perspectives including from historically underrepresented groups
Desirable:
Experience presenting information effectively in written, verbal and/or visual formats
Experience of working within a committee (e.g. within your school, community, subject area or for student societies)
Proven ability to network, communicate and collaborate with a range of groups
