Job Description: Head of Cyber ThreatJob Title: Head of Cyber ThreatDepartment: Cybersecurity / Threat IntelligenceReports To: Consulting PartnerPosition Overview:The Head of Cyber Threat is responsible for overseeing the organization’s cyber threat intelligence, detection, and response efforts. This role includes developing and executing strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity threats while ensuring the organization's systems, data, and infrastructure remain secure. The individual will lead a team of experts, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and provide strategic guidance to strengthen the organization's overall security posture.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership:Develop and implement the organization's cyber threat management and response strategy.Establish policies, processes, and best practices for threat intelligence and incident response.Serve as a subject matter expert on cyber threats, advising executive leadership on risk and mitigation strategies.Threat Intelligence and Analysis:Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of threat intelligence from various sources (e.g., dark web, open-source, industry partners).Monitor emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques to proactively adjust defenses.Build and maintain partnerships with external intelligence-sharing organizations and industry peers.Threat Detection and Response:Lead the design and implementation of advanced threat detection systems, including SIEM, EDR, and threat-hunting tools.Manage the incident response team to ensure rapid containment, mitigation, and recovery from cyber incidents.Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.Team Leadership and Development:Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of cybersecurity professionals.Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the cyber threat team.Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team expertise in emerging threats and technologies.Risk Assessment and Mitigation:Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and prioritize remediation efforts.Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement controls that reduce the risk of cyber threats.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.Reporting and Metrics:Develop and present detailed reports on the organization's threat landscape, incident trends, and risk posture to stakeholders and leadership.Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of threat management initiatives.Provide recommendations for investment in cybersecurity tools, technologies, and personnel.Qualifications and Skills:Education and Experience:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role focused on threat intelligence and incident response.Technical Expertise:In-depth knowledge of cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.Experience with advanced threat detection tools, malware analysis, and forensic techniques.Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, ISO 27001) and regulatory requirements Leadership Skills:Proven ability to lead and develop diverse, multidisciplinary teams.Strong decision-making and crisis management skills under pressure.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Certifications (Preferred):CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification)CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)Other relevant cybersecurity certificationsAdditional Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Knowledge of scripting and automation for threat detection (e.g., Python, PowerShell).Familiarity with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
