Job Title: Senior Director, Global Accounting Services Job Location: London, UK Job Location Type: Hybrid Job Contract Type: Full-time Job Seniority Level: Director Job DescriptionGeneral Summary:Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, the Senior Director, Global Accounting Services is a critical leadership role that will help to drive and scale the Company’s global accounting shared services. This role is responsible for service delivery across a broad scope of financial processes. leading a diverse global shared service team and working with multiple stakeholders on a global basis. The Senior Director will review, design and continuously improve service delivery standards and drive the development of the shared service staff and upgrade capabilities to support Vertex’s continued business growth.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesLead and direct all aspects of Vertex’s global accounts payable, payroll, stock administration, and tax mobility teamsEffectively manage and develop the global shared services team that meets increasing needs and requirements across the business and helps drive the overall organization forwardPlan and execute for impacts to accounting processes and systems driven by Vertex growth from new product introductions, global expansion activities, and business development.Drive the adoption of common processes and standards across the company and in partnership with internal stakeholders.Identifies ways to scale the operation while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting shared services function, with a focus on automationDevelop and monitor metrics and key performance indicators that drive best practicesMaintain and develop a strong framework of controls in line with Sarbanes Oxley guidance and other International requirementsWork closely and communicate effectively with corporate partners in Sourcing, Procurement Operations, Corporate Finance, Treasury, and IT to ensure that corporate information and support needs are consistently met.Knowledge And SkillsExcellent leadership and team management skillsStrong communicator with the ability to collaborate cross functionallyPrevious leadership role of significant accounting operations team on a global scaleFinance process excellence or Six-Sigma experience a significant plus.Experience in a publicly traded large biotechnology/pharmaceutical company preferredLarge ($1B+) multinational industry experience preferredERP/Accounting system experience, Oracle expertise a big plusEducation And ExperienceBachelor's degree with a major in Accounting requiredTypically requires a minimum of 12 years of progressive, relevant accounting shared services leadership experience, including the management of teams that are geographically dispersedFlex DesignationHybrid-Eligible Or On-Site EligibleFlex Eligibility StatusIn this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as: Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.Note: The Flex status for this position is subject to Vertex’s Policy on Flex @ Vertex Program and may be changed at any time.Company InformationVertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation.Vertex is committed to equal employment opportunity and non-discrimination for all employees and qualified applicants without regard to a person's race, color, sex, gender identity or expression, age, religion, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, marital status, or any characteristic protected under applicable law.
