As Dementia Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will have an inherent passion for supporting people with dementia, matched by a passion for volunteering, adding value to our services and enabling the best possible experience for all.You will work collaboratively to support patients, families and nursing teams to create a dedicated and skilled volunteer resource, driven to provide a high level of patient engagement and carer support at all points of care and out into the community.The programme will include training, resourcing, managing and supporting the wellbeing of our volunteers to work with specialist dementia and ward staff, plus networking and outreach into our communities to support knowledge and understanding of dementia, build confidence in accessing healthcare, in particular among seldom heard communities.This role will suit an individual with experience of people with dementia and volunteering. You will have an empathetic, compassionate and professional approach and an aptitude for networking and relationship building within the hospitals and with external and community-based organisations. A good communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence, you will have a willingness to learn and to develop the volunteer service for the benefit of all.Manage and develop a Dementia Volunteer Service including recruitment, training and promotionSupport the day-to-day wellbeing and management of volunteers, including rotas, sourcing merchandise, handling conflict, grievances and complaintsCollaborate with internal stakeholders, building good working relationships with the multi-disciplinary teams.Ensure support for dementia patients and families is available at all points of care. Collaborate with external stakeholders including the Alzheimer's Society to maintain up-to-date training and information, opportunities for community networking and outreach, ensuring inclusivity and volunteers who reflect our communities. Develop a community outreach programme to deliver information and education via volunteers. Maintain accurate data input on a CRM Database, IQVIA and Microsoft Office Software, developing evaluation measures and producing reports on Service activity and performancePromote the Service via social media, website and internal and external publications and events, plus staff training and inductionsEnable Service enhancements: specialist therapies (music, arts and crafts), community talks and opportunities to link in with communities via volunteers acting as advocates for the ServiceUphold and lead by example in relation to the Trust’s values of Teamwork, Honesty and Openness, Respect, Inclusivity, Valuing People and Excellence (THRIVE).Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton.
